Here is some information about us:
*The King's Portion is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization offering several food programs to fill in the gap for those less fortunate in Douglas,Wyoming and Converse County.
*The King's Portion has been well established since April 7th, 2011-present
PROGRAMS WE OFFER:
*FOOD PANTRY DISTRIBUTIONS - this program is offered twice a month serving the elderly, sick/disabled, low income, single parent families, the unemployed, the children, and those at or below poverty levels.
We provide meats, breads, fresh fruit and vegetables when available, non-perishable food items, commodities to those who qualify, and personal hygiene items.
*DELIVERY- we offer delivery of goods to our shut-ins during operation hours. This program is for those without transportation or for those who are disabled/sick
*EMERGENCY SERVICES- this service offers food to individuals who are in emergency situations such as; jail/prison release, financial bind for food, awaiting food stamps, transiet/homeless, etc
*NUTRITION CLASSES- this program is offered to those who utilize any of our programs. This class offers the benefits of a good diet, the different foods nutritional properties and the effects on the body, and how to budget your money effectively.
*BLESSINGS IN A BACKPACK- this program is for school age children K-12 grade who may be at risk of going hungry on the weekends. Non-perishable and fresh food items when available are placed into the childs backpack every week. We partner with each Guidance Counselor to make sure we are targeting students who are low income or at poverty levels. Our goal is to provide hunger-free weekends throughout the school year.
WE GLADLY ACCEPT ALL FOOD AND MONETARY DONATIONS. ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE

- REQUIREMENTS: a referral sheet from our networking partners is required. Those partners are; Dept of Family Services, Probation/Parole, Solutions for Life Counseling Services, Community Block Grant, and Douglas Police Dept.
